That makes 2 teams from premier that were upset... Lykan lost 2-1 to queenston at fort niagara on a shiity field with an even worse ref performance a questionable pk gave queenston the lead when a sarcastic ref thought it was cute to call everything after lykan questioned a few non calls... Several cards I think 3 for lykan and 3 for queenston (I might be wrong) personally this game would have been better if our center had officiating skills as large as his ego good match from queenston at times outplaying us a lot of unfinished chances for lykan gl to queenston moving on

Well played match at Fort Niagara on a perfect thursday for soccer. Both teams had 13 guys at kickoff. The game started with both teams having bouts of possession. Queenston was able to get the first breakthrough in the 10th minute when a great run by Noah Rougeux led to a perfect ball into the box onto Justin Sims' foot, who made no mistakes with the finish. The rest of the half was balanced with both sides taking turns attacking. The best chance was for Lykan when a corner kick came out and led to a driven shot from about 30 yards away that the Queenston keeper was able to punch away. Half ended 1-0.

Lykan came out in the second half with a bit more committment to go forward. They controlled a majority of possession but was unable to generate many quality chances. Lykan finally got the opportunity they wished for (and probably deserved) in the 65th minute when a Queenston defender whiffed on a simple clearance, putting the Lykan attacker in on goal who finished clinically. The goal seemed to ignite Lykan as the next 5 minutes of play were dominated. They were able to create multiple chances but all were turned away by the Queenston keeper and defense. In the 73rd minute Queenston was able to create a counterattack when a couple of quality passes led the Queenston winger getting a one on one in the corner. The Queenston winger took on the defender appearing to get a step on him before being taken down in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. It certainly wasnt the most hanus foul ever seen, but I think it was deserved after a Queenston attacker was blatantly tripped in the box in the first half only to have appeals denied. The penalty was converted by Justin Sims. The last 17 minutes + 4 minutes of stoppage time was desperate defending by Queenston. Lykan pressed on and was able to create chances, but Queenston's defending and goalie held firm, clearing two opportunities off the line to preserve the win.

It was a fun game to play in. Pretty physical. Queenston had 3 cards for clumsy challenges, while I think Lykan had 2 or 3 cards for dissent. Lykan is a good group of guys with a bunch of talent and we wish them the best of luck in the Premier division this year.
