Coming into the game Roos were without starting forward Scott Campbell and center mids Phil Barrett and Nick Mann, to compound the fact we were up against a strong Premier team in Chelsea. Even our usual deep bench was light because of in game injuries picked up by Brian Bartosik and Sean Newman so the endurance of many RFC players was tested. Chelsea had two subs for their team

First half was basically how I thought the whole game would go. Chelsea showed their skill on the ball and held possession for most the the game. Roos pack the middle of the field and defended as best they could, hoping that Ryan O'Donnell would offer some good counter attacks. Chelsea swarmed us with their speed at forward, but RFC did well to limit most chances to long contested shots. One break for Chelsea resulted in a low cross that was volleyed onto the post. The first half pace was slow, methodical and dominated by Chelsea. While it may have ended scoreless it felt inevitable that Chelsea would break in at some point.

Second half was a totally different game. I'm not sure if Chelsea decided to play a more run and gun style because their possession hadn't resulted in a goal, but the game turned into a back and forth attack by both Chelsea and Roos FC. Chelsea broke the stalemate with a near post blast that rocked the Roos a bit. Perhaps that goal made Chelsea feel like the game was theirs at that point. It certainly seemed like RFC wouldn't be able to score given how few chances they had. But then something happened. A overlapping run by Brian Sedar followed by a ball played through to O'Donnell resulted in a rebound, where Brian Kelly found the back of the net to equalize. When that goal went in RFC found a second wind and began to control the ball a bit more. O'Donnell again found Andrew Schafer on a outside run. Shafer cut in around a defender and hammered a near side goal home to give RFC the lead. Roos found hard to perserve that lead but a long shot/pass? by Michael Unwin for Chelsea was deflected home on the far post to even the game at 2-2 late. Full time came shortly after that.

Overtime contained very little, and this game moved to PKs. Roo goalie Greg Slabyk made a save on the second Chelsea attempt and another shot was knocked wide while Bartosik, Aaron Jones, Scott Shuler, and O'Donnell all struck home their shots. RFC was rewarded with a 3-2 win. Clear game by both teams. Chelsea is a very well organized bunch. One would wonder how that game goes if they stuck to their slow possession game instead of opening it up. The ref we had is maybe the best the BDSL has. Really we've had a great run of refs and AR's this year, hats off to all of them.

In my last post I menationed how the Roos have turned a corner of sorts after playing so poorly against Alden. Since that game, its been a totally different team and credit to all of my teammates for turning this into a productive year. It's very apparent sometimes when one team wants a game a bit more then the other. Maybe this is why Tehel has been won by a lower division the past few years. It certainly seems like that might be the case. I say this knowing that Raiders are basically dismantling everyone this year so we'll see how it goes.

The extreme attention to detail makes me believe this is totally false. Nice story though freddy fiction.

yeah Sally Storyteller over here.....

You forgot to mention the complete lack of mental focus by a few Roo players as they forgot their alternatejerseys at home. Fresh legs coming in from the sidelines in the second half really helped the team. I can say confidently that they started both scoring chances for the roos.

OH NO! The chain smoking drunks that have no talent on the pitch have won 2 Tehel Cup games, this obviously scares Lakeside. Charlie why must you continue to start stuff with the Wolfpack? You must be reminded that your little sarcastic comments fuel this team to no ends. Even when we have yet to play some mediocre premier team we still use this to feed off going into games. With a 2-5 record and being shutout 3 times in your respected division I think you might have other problems to worry about than the Wolfpack, or is this because you realize your team will not compete in your division you have to call out a division 1 team. I hope we get the draw to play your team Charlie, I really do and I know the pack would love to play lakeside. And if we do not play each other in the quarterfinals or so on why don't we set up a friendly and you can stop whining about us. We look at making the quarterfinals as a huge accomplishment for this club, mainly because thursday night matches we lose half our team. So if you must continue to call us out I hope you can back your mouth up on the pitch because at this point we have nothing to lose, going forward in the Tehel Cup. To everyone other team that is still in the Tehel Cup congrats on making it this far and good luck to you in the future rounds. As for Lakeside hopefully we will see you on the pitch. BTW the only reason why I respond to Charlie's remarks is because I think it is absolutely hilarious that he never calls any team out but ours, is this because you think your a great team because you are in the premier division? If thats the case I again would like you to look at your results during your league play and get back to me on an answer. As for my picks in the Finals for the Tehel Cup I would say Raiders v Azzuri of course if the draw shapes that way (sorry Roos aka the greatest team ever, The Wolfpack still cheer ya on even in your league play). But since "its the Wolfpacks to lose" maybe we can?!

Sorry went a bit crazy there just sick and tired of reading charlies smart remarks, I respect every team in the bdsl whether your in the third or premier just have no respect for Charlie. Were all in this league to play the game we love unfortunately some people make it more personal and my team are like family and I will go to the grave defending that family.

I had a whole post typed out but it was probably going to get deleted and I currently have a 2 year streak of no posts deleted so I am gonna try to ride that out.

Also it's 6am.

Lakeside is my favorite team. I would almost cheer for them if we played them in the next round... which is weird.

I have no idea how you fellas find time to post pages upon pages of mindless jibber-jabber and especially posting a picture let alone 3... details of a game I gladly read, but this is nonsense, you need a new hobby. clown

If I am better at Butt Darts then I am at soccer that would probably mean I am barely adequate at Butt Darts.
