FC Buffalo Reserves 2 The Beast 1 (OT)

It looks like this will be the only post I get to make for the Tehel Cup unfortunately. Congratulations to FC Buffalo for making it on to the next round. Apparently The Beast has been doing more grazing in the offseason than preparing for play. It was a really ugly first half for both teams as both teams were getting used to playing with each other. There weren't many great chances in the first half but we had 3 or 4 chances in the box that we failed to capitalize on. Matt Hall and Mike Sutton both had good opportunities that Robert Weigand did a nice job of keeping out. FC Buffalo had a few chances on crosses, but solid defense led by Ryan Biggane kept most opportunities to the outside. Score at half 0-0. Right off the kickoff, FCBR got a couple good chances that keeper Andrew Ciminelli handled well. The Beast got their short-lived second wind and we actually started putting some passes together. We got on the board when Sutton played a through ball to Jeremy Fischer who had a nice step and touched the ball passed the center back and had a nice finish far post side netting. At that point however, The Beast started to look more like a famished and dehydrated elephant in the desert. Regardless, we were dominated after that, as they were clearly not suffering from the same problems. They had a bunch of real nice opportunities, but Ciminelli kept our lead. Finally, with 30 seconds to go a ball squeeked in to Stephen Acheampong who tied it up. In overtime it was more of the same and Mate Tarr got the ball at the top of the 18 with about 3 minutes to go and he had a nice finish. Both teams were definitely missing some key players, but it was a good clean game. Good luck to FCBR in the next round.
