Our round of 16 Tehel Cup game got pushed back a week in order to find a field. We ended up playing last night at West Seneca Soccer Complex. We had 17 guys and Azzurri had 14. We started off strong and controlled the game early. We had a few chances, but were unable to take advantage. Azzurri also had two pretty good chances, but failed to capitalize. 0-0 at the half, but we felt like if we kept pushing the pace, goals would come. We finally broke the deadlock 10 or 15 minutes into the second half when Graham Harris buried a header from an excellent corner kick from Zack Schwartz. About 10 minutes later, Brendan Lawler was played a through ball by Matt Campana. Brendan cut in from the left side of the 18 and put his shot inside the far post. 2-0 Sharpshooters. A little while later, Graham Harris made a nuisance of himself on another corner. The ball hit the ground in the box and after a mad scramble, Graham was able to win the ball and cause enough problems that it fell to Oliver Jackson in front of net and Oliver was able to poke the ball into the roof of the net. 3-0 Sharpshooters. With a few minutes remaining, we got another corner (probably our 20th of the game...) and Oliver swung in a great cross which I was able to volley into the upper corner. 4-0 final score. We put in a solid performance and Azzurri struggled to keep up with our pace. It was a good, hard fought game. Ref crew was solid. Best of luck to Azzurri the rest of the way.
