Down 0-2, Celtic Comeback, Clip Clarence, Quell Quest for Second Cup
South Buffalo has always given me the creeps. Not sure why, it just does...
The game last night took place on Tifft Street, on a beautiful turf field...in South Buffalo. I think I may've even passed some street signs that were written in Celtic - not a good 'sign.'
Clarence came out flying. The first 15 minutes or so, we (Coyotes) applied intense pressure and created some decent opportunities. By the 20th minute, we had a 2-nil lead (our second goal will surely go down in the annals of Coyote lore: JJ blasted a southhoof, upper right corner beaut from the 17 yard line).
Then, the unthinkable happened: fresh off the campaign trail, Frank Butcher shows up! He (brazenly) walked right past our bench, had the nerve to shake my hand, and proceeded to loosen up...the 'Frank the Tank, Frank the Tank' voices wouldn't leave my head...
Within seconds, Celtic seemed to, collectively, grow even bigger and stronger. They scored a goal. One of their players deliberately kicked one of our players who was on the ground, after the whistle (he got a yellow for the stomp). The linesperson even seemed to be under Frank's spell; a six yard pass to a clearly 3 yard offside (Steve Butcher, I believe) Celt, resulted in a non-offside-call and a second goal. All three of their goals were very nice strikes. Both of ours (Clarence) were nice as well.
We played with a lot of heart. Definitely a good game.
Celtic's passing is clinical. They are a very good squad.
Both goalies played very well. The Celtic goalie seemed to gobble up everything in the area. LP1 made some good saves and had little chance on their blasts.
The loss was disheartening.
Player of the match: my 7 year old son (who, at one point, juggled 11 times in a row on the sideline).
Good luck to Celtic in the Cup.
Good luck to Clarence Coyotes in the regular season.

Celtic are always clinical..that said I'm just not sure how you kick a guy on purpose when he's on the ground and not get a red..

Yeah, Lenny, I'd like an official explanation on that as well.

The street signs are written in Irish Gaelic.

you probably haven't made any friends with members of the Roos by airing such an opinion of South Buffalo
