Roos FC 1- Lakeshore Select 3 Empty Roos FC 1- Lakeshore Select 3

Roos FC bows out of the Tehel Cup in poor fashion as Lakeshore Select avenges their 4-2 loss over the weekend with a 3-1 win of their own. Roos had 3 subs while Lakeshore had 4 I think. Field B at West Seneca Soccer Complex is terrible and horrible and a damn shame we had to play there. Refs were a good unit. Kinda felt like play got bogged down with whistles in our second half but that was due to the physical play increasing so not really much we could do. A couple strange calls in the second but they had little impact on the game overall which is all you want really.

1st half was all Lakeshore. 5 minutes in they earn a CK that our keeper Greg Slabyk punches back to the top of the box were a Lakeshore midfielder volleyed right back over the top and into the top of the net for a quick 1-0 lead. Maybe 15 minutes later they doubled their lead with a pretty passing play down the our right side that ended with a through ball that they slotted into the back of the net. We were completely out classed in the first half. Losing 50/50s. Stupid passes. Not good enough clearances. You name it we did it and did it horribly. Just ugly stuff from us. Alex Reid fashioned a few chances on his own but as a whole we very very poor, quite possibly our worst output of a half all season. Not taking anything away from Lakeshore here, and I hope they know that. They played great yesterday and were clinical in every facet of the game.

After some stern words at half we regrouped and came into form a bit in the second. Lakeshore was pretty content to settle just before half and try to create turnovers which they did plenty of. We really had to be direct yesterday and I don't know if that suits our style. Lakeshore earned some good counter chances and scored on one. Their forward broke in past both mine and Kyle Ernst slide tackle attempts (we both got ball but he somehow kept it at his feet both times) and rounded Greg. It looked like he he had run out of room at the end line after getting past Greg but he somehow sent in a great placed shot that hit just inside of the post side netting. After that we pressed more really keeping the ball towards their end. Reid finally pulled one back with 10 to go and Gordon nearly a second with a FK that hit the crossbar but it was too little too late. Lakeshore marches on to face Yemen Elite in the quarters.

One more quick word on Lakeshore. They are the team with the best teamwork I've seen so far and maybe in a long time in the BDSL. Everyone is pulling for each other with constant communication and effort. Scott has put together a good team with those core familiar Buff St. faces in Fox, Eastman, Rouse, Pinzone and others. With playoffs coming perhaps we'll have a rubber match too though I hope it wouldn't be until the championship game. GL to them the rest of the way in Tehel Cup.
