1st Division May Grades

Alden
D+  Do you like goals? Go watch Alden play soccer then as there are bound to be some.  6 a game in fact. Sadly 8 of those GF came in one game for them. Not the best outlook for them. Its really good there are 2 teams much worse then them below.
Preseason: 11th
May: 12th

Amherst Alliance
C+  Loss to FC Quake really must sting. Clearly no love between those two sides (though its becoming a common theme for one of those sides). The first two games in June are crucial to get back into the playoff hunt particularly v SPAL. I’m a little disappointed in them to be totally honest but still long season ahead. Fun Tehel Cup game ahead.
Preseason: 6th
May: 8th

Beast City SC
A  Interesting case here with Beast. Haven’t had any hiccups but not exactly blowing anyone away either (Depew doesn’t count) Noah Keem is clearly a dangerous player. The defense has been strong too so I expect that as competition ramps up in June here they can be up to the task.
Preseason: 3rd
May: 2nd

Buffalo Gunners
C    Could be the most deceptive 2-2 record in history with 2 wins over Nickel City and Depew. They were dispatched in their other 2 games vs quality opponents. I think come year end they’ll be closer to relegation then a point off the playoffs.
Preseason: 13th
May: 11th

Catan FC
B-    Gotta say to their credit though they’ll been seemingly undermanned pretty consistently they’ll done fairly well for themselves. Could be a lot worst. Strong results against top tier teams resulting in few points but hopefully it has built belief for them in this division.  Lots of winnable games in June so they could become a playoff dark horse here.
Preseason: 9th
May: 7th

Depew Village
F  I mean, it’s uhhhh… at least they can *checks June schedule* oh dear…. Yeah they are toast.
Preseason: 12th
May: 13th

Elmwood Saints FC
B-  Do you like goals? Wait I asked this already. Oh well. Don’t come watch Elmwood Saints games then. While they boast the second best defensive record (3 straight CS is nice), offense has been a challenge. 4 of their 5 goals came in 1 game so yeah.  They have the talent it just hasn’t materialized just yet. Need that to start to show soon but I’m still keeping the faith.
Preseason: 5th
May: 3rd

FC Quake
A-   Very good start for these guys who find themselves in 3rd out of the gate. Mammoliti appears revitalized while Eaton and co. hold it down in the back. All this said I still can’t pick them as a true promotion threat yet for whatever reason. They keep proving me wrong so he’s more opportunity to do so I suppose.  But I think playoffs are in the picture for them.
Preseason: 10th
May: 5th

Hamburg Monarchs
C  I just can’t figure this team out. On paper they appear better then their record indicates but that’s why we play the games I suppose. Decker and Mathis are two good early adds to strengthen the side. Their remaining schedule is begging to take them to the playoffs. Until I see different I think mid table still with them
Preseason: 8th
May: 10th

Nickel City Wanderers
F Infinity    Only thing I really have to say here is shout out to those people thinking that them forfeiting early was a thing. It’s not.
Preseason: 14th
May: 14th

Panthers
A+  Team to beat is an understatement. Who will be the first team to score on them in league? Can anyone score on them in league? If they continue with solid numbers can’t be beat.
Preseason: 1st
May: 1st

RVS United
B-   This team hasn’t played in a game that wasn’t decided by a lone goal all season. So they’ll played a few good team tight and played vs other also rans very close too. Maybe a case of a team playing to much to it’s opposition skill level? Im not sure. I do know that Haines is their everything offensively and they’ll go as far as he’ll carry them.
Preseason: 7th
May: 9th

SPAL Buffalo FC
B-   I’m cooling on them a bit. Still have them as a playoff side but after seeing them play I have my questions. They have a pretty potent offense and some solid central mids and defenders. In net and out wide I’m a little leery about. They’ll be glad to get Rider back. Not a single easy game on this schedule for them but still will do enough for me.
Preseason: 2nd
May: 6th

Williamsville Willies
B+    Still a bit of a mystery team here as they trounced some weaker sides but came up flat in their shots vs some division favorites. June has them playing lots of teams that if they beat would give us a better idea on them. So far its been a defensive first philosophy from this side. Looks like D1 has been the right placement for them.
Preseason: 4th
May: 4th
