Beautiful soccer filled day at Nichols, kicked off with it still in the mid 80's, we had 12 and spal had maybe 18?  I think we felt a bit anxious and started the game off poorly, for the first 10 minutes spal definitely were putting on more pressure and it felt like we just weren't organized.  No real chances on net, but they were attacking down the wings like crazy.  At around the 10 minute mark things started to change and we gained a lot more possession and the ball started to stay in their half for extended periods.  First goal game on an attack up the right wing, passed into the middle to Kurt Schulz who took a shot that deflected off their center back and fell to Jerome lee yaw who finished it nicely.  SPAL called for offside, none given.  Rest of the half saw a lot of shots taken from 18 to 25 yards by panthers and a lot of free kicks and corners to us.  SPAL found a few more opportunities down then wings but nothing too crazy that produced any real chances.  One good chance for spal came off a rebound that their player shot about a foot wide but Matt Smith saved it anyways.  Half ended 1-0.
Second half we came out strong again, attacking the wings and splaying a ton of long balls up to Kurt and Jerome.  Had some good chances and finally found another with a long ball settle by Jerome who dribble 2 players, passed to Kurt who dribbled the goalie and a defender, was tripped but stood strong and then shot from no angle into a defender trying to get back and it want into the side net.  With about 15 minutes left, Panthers hit a wall it felt like.  We still played well, but SPAL's numbers started to have an effect on the play.  they gained more possession and really started to threaten down the wings again.  The had a few good runs put together but couldn't put anything on net, having shots either blocked or put will off frame.
Game ends...finally, 2-0 Panthers.  Ref did OK, made a lot of weird calls, overturning AR's when she was not in the position to do so.  But overall did alright.  SPAL have a solid team and I can see why they are near the top of the table, good guys, enjoyed the banter with their forwards all game.  Our whole team continues to put in solid performances and another clean sheet for Matt Smith.
