Queenston 1:1 Raiders Empty Queenston 1:1 Raiders

Well our usual poster missed the game because he was "sick", yet was seen on social media out for ice cream. So he is on probation, you guys are stuck with me for one post. My post will be nowhere near as detailed.

8:30 rolled around and in typical Queenston fashion of years past, we had 11 to start with 3 straggling in 5 minutes into the game. We eventually had 14 and I believe they had 16/17. Missing Casey and C. Walters, but all other notable names were in attendance.

For a third party fan, this game had to be super entertaining. It was a pretty back and forth match. Both teams with their spells of possession and chances. Maybe it was the lights, but both teams were in the zone and trying every thing in their bag of tricks to try and sway the referee's opinion. Players were yelling ridiculous things to each other, nothing vulgar or crossing the line. Just stupid stuff. Merms got fouled from behind and flips his lid, then does the same thing later in the game to one of our players, and it's not a big deal to him. Hypocrisy. Love it. Also our referee seemed to fit in well with all the players on both teams, and argued right back with us. Which made everything all the more entertaining.

Our goal came probably 30 minutes in or so. Suitor launches a ball into the box and about 40 players converge on the ball, Figler manages to get a fist to it and it falls to Farrell about 25 yards out who volleys it right over the entire mosh pit and into the gaping goal. 1-0 good guys. Half would end slightly after that.

Second half sees a lot of Raiders possession. We had a few chances to put the game 2-0 but couldn't get that clinical finish in front of goal. Raiders game plan was get the ball wide to their fast wingers and serve balls into the box, usually to Kendall. I think we defended 30 crosses in this game, unfortunately they had 31. Kwadwo hit a beauty of a left footed cross to find Ryan Walters on the doorstep. He heads it straight into the turf and into the back of the net it skips, I couldn't react fast enough.

1-1 Final. In the standings, this point doesn't make a huge difference. But after dropping our last 3 league games before this and falling out of the cup, it was HUGE for our morale. Back at it next Sunday to get some revenge against Celtic United. Can't lose that one.

Hopefully our normal poster will be back too.

You're the worst, Netter. I've got the aching, coughing, cold shivers, you name it (reaches for tissue box). You probably can't tell by the Instagram post by my wife, but, my eyes were tearing up. They were tearing because I was sick and I also knew I'd be missing this game, my first of the year.

When you realize you can no longer log in to the team twitter account, you can immediately point back to this as the breaking point.
