Sharpshooters Shutout Clarence Coyotes

Post  david martinez on Mon Aug 08, 2016 11:35 am

Well, our (Coyotes') dream of becoming 2016 premier champions came to an abrupt end yesterday at Nichols.

I feel like our collective energy was a little off, from the giddy-up. Amherst is a good team - they are physically and technically strong. They controlled the play for the first 10 minutes of the first half, and scored early after LP made a save soon after a set piece; someone knocked home the rebound.

Both teams seemed evenly matched yesterday, but Amherst seemed to want it more often than we Coyotes (by the way, our name is the Clarence Coyotes - not the Yotes (the Yotes is the Twitter handle (or Twitter name, or whatever it is called nowadays by today's youth))). Most 50/50s were won by the victor. In the first half, we had a few more chances on net, but didn't finish. Tyler Hamil played extremely hard all match, and created a few close ones.

1-0 Half

Our defense played very well as always. Mistake free all game.

We played well as a team, just lacked something - not sure what...

Anyway, the second half was even - back and forth. The only things of note, I guess, were towards the end of the game, as we were pushing forward a bit, our foes had two or three breakaways which they missed wide.

After last year's lack of numbers at many of our matches, I definitely consider this year's campaign a true success. It was an honor to be a part of a good, classy group of players.

Nonetheless, our premier season is over.

We are hanging up our cleats for now -- however, we were talking after the game about, maybe, organizing a friendly this Thursday at 8 under the lights at Sweet Home High's new Turf field....any takers??
