Dutch 3, WNY United 2
Dutch came into today's contest needing points for playoff seeding, while United was trying to secure a spot in the postseason for the first time since 2010. We created a few good chances early, their keeper is aggressively patrols his area however. Dutch scored twice before halftime and led 2-0 at the break. The Reds brought one back over halfway through the second half, a through ball by Steve Austin was tapped by the keeper by Yanick Ndjibu. Dutch responded with a goal off a PK, then so did we, Chris Duerr converting from the spot. We couldn't find another by the end. We're a little frustrated at losing but a little pleased by the fact that we played the division leader pretty even today.
Based on other results, we made the playoffs. I can't say we expected this earlier this season but we found our way and improved greatly down the stretch.
