Dutch FC 3 - Buffalo Celtic 1

Another week were we feel we should of, could of won but just could not finish. Weather cleared up nicely, the field was surprising not bad at all and we seemed ready to go. Missing some key players but still looking good to start only to have the same issue rear its ugly head of not being able to finish. Granted, their striker Adamec had two very nice finishes sandwiched between an own goal but we are left thinking what should of been. Game started out in our favor as we had the majority of possession but nothing to show for it on the score board. About 15 maybe 20 in, Adamec received a cross and for some reason the 3 Celtic defenders around him just stood still while he teed up a beautiful curling ball back post, 1-0. A short time later, Brandan Voyer sprung free and put a shot on net that I initially thought was out or a miss only for the ball to trickle in near post to tie the game. Late in the first half, after a couple of saves the ball is fired across the net and probably would of went out for a thrown in if not for an unlucky deflection off of a Celtic defenders hip to barely squeak into the far post for a 2-1 halftime score.

We came out flying in the second half with a number of opportunities to tie and or take the lead but with no luck. The ball could not find the frame or we would hold for a split second too long. Adamec found some space through a great individual effort and again curled one in back post. If we had a striker like him we would be undefeated at this point. Physical but well played game.

We had an even more challenging standoff after the game to see who would stay at the field the longest which we had to finally concede late into the night giving the Dutch a second win. Kudos to the Dutch.
