Rovers began the game with just eight men and grew to 10 but could not get anything going vs a full Alden squad. A disappointing start to the season for Wolf Mill; Rovers keeper (myself) suffered a fractured metacarpal (hand bone) after being run by Alden's #4 when already up 5-0. No card was shown nor foul granted, which I believe is deserving of investigation by the league. It's not easy typing this post with my left (non-dominant) hand only.

Anyway, good luck to Alden surviving the 2nd round. We'll see you later this season.

First I want to say - nobody wants to see anyone else hurt - so we hope that your hand heals fast. #4 had no intention of hurting you.
I did want to say that the foul was called on #4 on that play. It was a 50/50 ball that he did go for in the last 10 minutes. When the ref called the foul - he said it was a legal 50/50 play and that he did make the call but did not call for a card. #4 on our team just wanted a goal and was still playing hard for one.
although I do understand your position (which is unfortunatte) on the subject since you were injured, what the score was and how much time was left - I don't see where the league would investigate since there was a penalty called and the ref did explain why there was no card at the time.
good luck the rest of your season as well!

I was under the impression that he called it a goal kick since the ball was put at the top of the 6, and the foul occurred further up toward the 18. My mistake for not realizing there was a foul. Thank you for the well-wishes.

Funny story- the ref was our asst. principal from middle/high school and knew almost all of us by name.

Second game this season that has been posted, where a player ends up with an injury (broken hand, and a concussion) from a collision between a forward and a goalie. In this game and our game, no card was given. The only way something like this will be taken care of, is if a collision like this results in a fight between the two teams.
