SPAL F.C. 3 - MAC Eagles SC 2

Post  Ankur Singh on Wed Jun 30, 2010 10:41 pm

Fun night for soccer!

MAC Eagles only had 7 at kickoff, but they had numbers within 10 minutes of the match as more players arrived.

The game itself was pretty intense and well played on both sides. SPAL scored first on a defensive mixup and a one time volley shot from about 12 yards out. A few minutes later, SPAL was given a PK after a trip in the box, but failed to convert as their keeper made an excellent save. The break for SPAL came early in the 2nd half as our forward and their keeper both ran onto a 50/50 ball, but the keeper kicked the ball directly into our player and it took a odd deflection into their own net. Unfortunate how that played out for MAC Eagles.

With about 4 or 5 minutes left in the match, MAC Eagles finally broke through on a goal scored off a nice ground cross towards the edge of the 6. MAC Eagles were intent on getting the quick tying goal, but pushed too many of their players up and SPAL countered on a good chip cross leading to a race to the ball from midfield towards an empty net, which was converted for the 3-1 lead.

With about 1 minute left to play, MAC Eagles pressed on and scored another goal off a nice rush straight up the middle.

Time was not on their side at this point and the game was over.

Good luck in the division the rest of the way!
