Niagara FC - 3, Lykan FC - 2

Sunday's game at Fort Niagara against Lykan FC was an important game for us. Coming off a 1-0 loss to Polonia, we really needed 3 points out of the game. A Lykan handball in the box in the first half gave Nick Colao the opportunity to put us up 1-0 and he delivered. The first half would end 1-0.

The second half saw our midfielder/forward Russ Quarantello bury a nice shot outside the 18 yard box off a bad Lykan clearance to give us a 2 goal lead. Continued pressure on the Lykan defense led to another goal for Mike Curatolo off a ball whipped in by the golden haired Ross Suitor.

Things got shaky after going up 3-0. A foul in our defensive 18-yard box led to a penalty kick that Jeremy Kraska so nearly saved. Lykan scored the penalty kick to make the score 3-1. Lykan got a second goal in the second half off a good shot from outside the 18. I could have these goals out of order, I don't really recall which happened first.

We were able to hold up defensively and secure the 3 points to put our record at 2 wins 1 loss. We resume play tomorrow, 5/22, against a good Southtowns team in the Tehel Cup with an 8:30 p.m. kickoff at the D'Youville turf.
