MAC Eagles 4 - Cheektowaga 3 (PKs)

We really missed our army of subs in this one. We came in missing our top 3 forwards and this definitely played a factor. We jumped out front early off a throw-in that deflected off the back of James Kutruff right to me and I finished it for the 1-0 lead. MAC Eagles came back and tied it off a nice cross and finish. We regained our one goal advantage as Jake Gasiorek snuck in behind the defense to make it 2-1. Then, I felt the turning point in the game occurred. I could not get the ball over to Jake Gasiorek in time when he would have had a clear breakaway and MAC Eagles took off down the field and tied it up. With about 20 minutes left, MAC Eagles took a 3-2 lead. I sent Jake on another breakaway with about 8 minutes left who tied it at 3. Overtime was uneventful (with the funny side note of one of our players showing up after his U19 game ended on a field 100yds away from the one we were playing on). Our goaltender stopped the first PK attempt but MAC Eagles were awarded a rekick because he had apparently left his line before the ball was kicked (this is the equivalent of calling traveling in the NBA.....yeah it happens but do you call it) MAC put away the rest of theirs and we missed one along the way. Pretty good group of guys that I had fun talking with throughout the game. Except for Cello.....decent player if he just shut his mouth and played instead of pissing everyone on the field off (including the majority of his own team).
