Lightning Mars Opening Round Tilt

Lightning was the cause for abandonment of the match between Wolf Mill Rovers and Devils in the opening round of the Wood Cup. Just ten minutes in the whistle blew at sight of the first lightning strike, a little too close for comfort in the eyes of the official. After a brief wait under shelter, the game was declared abandoned as the storm was deemed relentless.

The brief action that did occur happened at both ends, as Wolf Mill stormed into the offensive third and unleashed a volley from an odd angle that rang off the bottom of the crossbar and cleared by a defender. On the response from that chance came a threatening drive by Devils as they were stopped at the last minute by frantic defenders. Some more play in the middle third was all that saw out the remaining time of the match.
