I think this may be the first game between our sides that didn't end up in a tie. We started with the wind, and I didn't realize how much a factor it was until the second half. The Reds created a lot of chances today and didn't finish them, but the goal came from a long throw by Joey Gabor that a Cheektowaga defender headed into his own net. 1-0 at the half. Cheektowaga threw more numbers forward in the second half with the wind, but our defense kept the shots away. We were missing 4 regular defenders so I'm happy that the makeshift unit was solid - Sal Rine really took control of things back there. Gabor almost made it 2-0 but hit the post after some good work by Nate Dutro. Tonight was a different problem to solve than Thursday was, we had to open up more, happy with how we played and hoping more goals come from those chances next time. Good game to Cheektowaga.
