FINALLY! We finally finished and won a game we felt deserved to win. In the intense heat we finally were able to put more than one goal into the other teams net to come away with a 4-3 win. The game started with us moving the around the pitch which led to us delivering a cross that Josh Fritz used his prominent German forehead to smash home the opening goal. We continue to work the ball around the pitch and as the half was winding down (told 3 minutes left in half, but after 10 minutes) the Honey Badgers goalie booted a long ball that took a nice bounce to their striker who turned and hit a shot (looked almost like he mishit it) through the legs of Celtic Player from close range to tie the game as the whistle blew for half.
In the second half some great individual and team effort/hustle led to a Celtic 3-1 lead with new signee Patrick Occhuito scoring two goals to add to an assist on the day. Honey Badgers were able to finish a header ( I believe) to close the gap to 3-2. Richie Brinkman then steps up and hits a rocket from almost midfield that knuckled, dipped, raised to hit upper 90 to restore the lead. The Honey Badgers almost added to the lead by taking the kick off and directly passing back to their keeper who had his back turned and off to the side. He got back just in time to pick up the ball before it made it into the net. Unfortunately, since he was not watching and saw that it was his player who hit it back to him leading to a free kick from 2 yards out. Unfortunately, we decided to rush the kick and wasted a perfect opportunity to put the game away. HB got a late goal to bring the game to 4-3. A late penalty kick was missed by HB to preserve the win. Great 1st Celtic cap for Brent Garner (assist) and Patrick Occhuito (2 goals and an assist) who were dangerous all game long. One of Patrick's goals was off of pure hustle. He chased down a shot that rolled slowly to the keeper who took too long to get the ball and he stole it for a tap in. The lesson here is to always follow up a shot as anything can happen.

Great group of guys who hung out after the game and enjoyed some beverages with us.

Great game by the referee crew! They worked in unison and handled the game expertly. KUDOS to them as it helped make the game more entertaining by allowing the teams to decide the outcome. My request is to have this crew every week. I am willing to pay extra for this benefit.
